Our 10-game unbeaten run has come to a disappointing end after we succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to determined Real Tamale united Side in Tamale on Sunday afternoon.

we started the game on the front foot, with Mbella Etouga uncharacteristically failing to connect a low cross from Patrick Asmah

We kept the game under control until Asmah pushed RTU attacker in our 18-yard box with the center referee pointing to the spot

Ronald Frimpong stepped up and slot the ball, though our goalie Danlad Ibrahim got the direction right, he couldn’t stop it.

We nearly responded right away after Asmah’s sumptuous freekick hit the post

With our boys pushing for the equalizer, Samuel Boateng with the goal post at his mercy, our number 9 hit the ball over from close range following Asmah’s freekick which hit the post and was not dealt with properly.

The first half ended with the home side leading us 1-0.

The tempo of the second half dropped with our players finding it difficult to play as a unit, we struggled to create chances as the home side who needed the three points badly defended very well.

They got their second goal after Danlad misjudged a teasing cross making it very easy for Victor Aidoo to head the ball to an empty net to put the score at 2-0.

With five minutes to go, Mbella got a through pass from Sheriff Mohammed, with the Cameroonian going around RTU’s keeper whose attempt to get the ball failed and in the process brought Mbella down in the penalty box.

We got a penalty, and Mbella converted with the goal turning out to be nothing but just a consolation.

We recorded our first defeat in the second half of the season and our third for the entire season.

Our boys will be disappointed but with our closest challenger Bechem United losing at Techiman, we still lead the league table with 8 points with 9 matches to go.

What’s next?

The team will welcome Legon Cities at the Babayara ahead of our attempt to get another three points at home. The match is on Sunday with a 3 pm kick-off.
