Ghana Premier League leader Asante Kotoko after a disappointing back to back defeats will travel to Sogakope to play struggling West Africa football Academy at the Red Bull Arena in our Matchday 27 fixture on Saturday afternoon with the sole aim of returning to winning ways

Asante Kotoko has experienced some rollercoaster ride recently, which makes Saturday’s encounter against  WAFA somehow a daunting task, especially with the position of the Academy lads.

Back-to-back defeats in the hands of RTU and Legon Cities seem to be making the journey somehow ebb and flow despite a seven (7) points lead on the league log.

Defeat is not a rookie in football and certainly, Kotoko, is not impervious to this phenomenon. However, we need to dig deep and find our form when we meet the Academy boys tomorrow

Red Bull Arena is a difficult ground to go, but the strength of WAFA’s team this season has been poor, with clubs like Ashanti Gold, Karela United, and King Faisal all picking maximum points which is very unusual, with our performance on the road this season, we can be confident ahead of the game

WAFA after a successful model in recent times is on the verge of going to relegation, having lost their coach Prosper Ogum to Kotoko, they lost over nine key players from the team that finished 3rd last season.

• League leaders

• Technical Head: Prosper Ogum Nartey

• Captain: Ismael Ganiu Abdul

• Survival

• Head coach: Zaragoza Guillermo

• Captain: Konadu Yiadom

Well-drilled and tactical supremacy has helped us from the start of the season, but we need to look at ourselves and up to our game on all fronts, While WAFA needs a miracle to stay up and will go down without a fight.

The injuries situation has been a serious threat to our title ambition but thankfully Ogum has been able to make the best out of the remaining players, we will go into this game without midfield maestro Justice Blay who might not play again this season after undergoing a successful surgery this week, talented winger, Isaac Oppong has been ruled out of the season months ago, Obviously, Andy Kumi who hasn’t kicked a ball this season won’t be ready for the game, our Skipper Abdul Ganiu and Richmond Lamptey are all out through injury, our two left full-backs Imoro Ibrahim and Patrick Asmah are suspended, Richard Boadu will not play the game because of accumulated cards with Augustine Agyapong on the National team duties

The last time the two sides met, it ended in a 1-0 in our favor
